About Cheshire

Cheshire is an area in Northwest England with a rich and vibrant history that dates back to the 11th century.

It is known for its beautiful countryside, historic towns and villages, and as the birthplace of some of Britain’s most famous people. There are many places to visit in Cheshire such as the 13th century Beeston Castle, Chester Cathedral or the historic market town of Congleton.

For visitors looking for things to do there are plenty of activities on offer in Cheshire such as a visit to Chester Zoo – one of the oldest zoos in England; walking or cycling along one of the many trails like Delamere Forest or exploring quaint villages like Kelsall or Nantwich.

There are also many festivals throughout the year such as the Chester Music Festival and Congleton Food & Drink Festival.

When it comes to food, Cheshire has some world-class restaurants that serve up delicious dishes from around the world. In particular, The White Horse Restaurant at Tatton Park is renowned for its sophisticated menu and fine dining experience while The Pheasant Inn serves up traditional British dishes in a cozy countryside setting.

Other top restaurants include Loïc Café Bistro at Alderley Edge which has gained a reputation for its French-inspired menu, whilst Sardinia Cafe at Wilmslow brings together Italian flavours with quality local ingredients.

The county also has some great sports teams who compete both nationally and internationally including Chester FC (football), Warrington Wolves (rugby) and Widnes Vikings (Rugby League).

All three teams have played at their respective stadiums – The Deva Stadium (Chester FC), Halliwell Jones Stadium (Warrington Wolves) and Select Security Stadium (Widnes Vikings) – since their foundation dates over 100 years ago. Their games draw large crowds who come out to support their teams each season.
